Intervention Counsellor OARS Community Transitions

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Intervention Counsellor as part of our Don’t Become That Man suite of services. Our new initiatives have been developed in line with the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022 – 2023 and prioritise the safety of women and children. Intervention Counsellors will support men to take responsibility for their violence, abuse, and/or control, and apply effective intervention.

 

The service delivers group based and individual interventions with men remanded for DFV offences and/or breaches of Intervention Orders, with the view to expand this service.  Applicants must have a background in human services, an in-depth understanding of DFV, and a commitment to assisting individuals to understand and change their behaviours. Experience working with domestic and family violence perpetrators, and hands-on experience working within relevant intervention modalities is advantageous. 

 

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience in their covering letter:

  1. Qualified and experienced counsellor
  2. Proven experience working as a specialist within a domestic and/ or family violence role, addressing complexity and co morbidities.
  3. A significant understanding of the issues, impact and appropriate counselling methodologies related to domestic and family violence.
  4. A track record of providing one to one and / or group-based intervention, making a lasting difference to clients.
  5. Excellent time management and commitment to ensuring quality and consistent services and support to our clients.

This position will be based in our Adelaide CBD office, with outreach to relevant group-based locations once induction and training is completed.

 

A copy of the job and person specification is available on our website www.communitytransitions.com.au, the role is Level 6 within the SCHADS Award which is currently $102,546 to $107,074 per annum (pro rata for part time staff). Above Award leave entitlements, which are 22 days annual and 12 days sick leave per annum (pro rata), and salary sacrifice options.
