Social Work Level 1/2 – ($34.01 – $49.27 per hour)
Psychologist – ($35.92 – $53.40 per hour)

What you’ll be doing:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Female Level 2 Social Worker or Psychologist to participate on the Sexual Assault Service Out of Hours On-Call Roster.  This service is based at Nepean Hospital Kingswood.

IVPRS Sexual Assault Service provides 24 hour crisis counselling and medical services to people in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District who have been sexually assaulted.   

The after-hours sexual assault counsellor has three key roles: To provide crisis counselling and advocacy for victims of sexual assault, To support and provide information to victims of sexual assault their family members/friends and  to work closely with the medical staff, forensic practitioners and Police to facilitate medial/forensic examinations.
 
We are seeking staff with the ability to work autonomously providing trauma centred responses to calls after business hours (at night and on weekends) and who can attend Nepean Hospital (when required) within one hour a call out.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Bachelor degree in Social Work or degree in Psychology with professional membership/registration with respective professional associations/Boards. Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification for this position and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977
  2. Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection
  5. Demonstrated experience working with people who have experienced interpersonal trauma
  6. Demonstrated experience/knowledge of responding to issues of child protection and associated reporting responsibilities, knowledge of child protection legislation, awareness of the impact of sexual abuse and other forms of trauma and abuse on children, young people and their families.
  7. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds
  8. Current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel across the District
