  • Remuneration: SCHCADS Award, Level 4, year dependent upon experience.

 

Bonnie Support Services is a Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) providing support and accommodation services to women and their accompanying children, who are experiencing domestic/family violence.  We are located in south western Sydney.

We currently have a position available for a female, domestic violence specialist who is proficient in written and spoken Japanese and English.  The position is funded via the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide case management support and advocacy to Japanese women nationals who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking and are living in Australia.  The support will be provided in person and via the telephone.

The successful applicant will have an extensive knowledge of the gendered nature of domestic violence, the legal framework.

SCHCADS Award Level 4 with above award conditions; year dependent upon experience.

Essential

  1. Commitment to feminist philosophy.
  2. Relevant qualifications and case management experience in the area of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of trauma and how this impacts mental health & well-being, addictions, cycles of homelessness, poverty, child development and  the mother-child relationship.
  4. Ability to identify and assess significant risk of harm and enact mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies and in particular legal services.
  6. Fluency in written and spoken Japanese
  7. Strong advocacy skills
  8. Ability to work effectively in a team
  9. Computer literacy in MS Word and MS Office products.
  10. Current Driver’s licence

 

 

Desirable

1. Skills and understanding of how to facilitate group work and community education and other capacity-building workshops and programs for woman and for children.
