What you’ll be doing
The Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) is responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection. The JCPR Health Clinician is responsible for providing direct support to children and young people who have experienced serious and criminal sexual and physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending families. They are also responsible for supporting the JCPR Senior Health Clinician in managing the Health components of the JCPR response, in partnership with JCPR Program interagency partners (NSW Police and FACS – Community Services).

Essential Criteria:

Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Worker, Counselling or Psychology
Registration: Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
  2. Demonstrated clinical experience in relation to child protection intervention and crisis intervention, counselling, advocacy and case management including a capacity to engage with children, young people, families and communities.
  3. Extensive demonstrated knowledge of health service systems and services and referral options for children and young people who have experienced criminal and serious sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending family members.
  4. Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of domestic violence, sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to sexual assault, physical abuse and other forms of interpersonal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in child protection violence service provision.
  6. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in partnership with others.
  7. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds
  8. Current driver’s license valid in Australia
