The role of Lead Counsellor has a 1 day per fortnight allocation (0.1 FTE) along with Counsellor responsibilities working 3 days per week (0.6 FTE). 

 Lead Counsellor Responsibilities 

This component of the role reports directly ot the Principal

• Oversee the counselling service from a holistic school-wide perspective ensuring consistency in procedures across the school.
• Provide a point of liaison for senior staff.
• Provide clinical guidance and support for the School Counselling Team:
• Coordinate and lead team meetings within the team.
• Provide training and induction for new school counselling staff.
•  Provide clinical guidance and support for complex cases and child           protection concerns.
• Oversee school counselling referrals and prioritise referrals to be seen.
• Oversee individual caseloads and ensure equitable distribution amongst    staff members.
• Ensure clinical professional standards are being maintained to in regard      to case notes, reports etc. o Undertake staff appraisal meetings within      the school counselling team to ensure staff growth and satisfaction.
• Review and update where necessary all procedures and forms e.g.              intake, psychometric forms. Ensuring school-wide consistency.
• Organise and facilitate PD days.
• Organise resources, training etc by keep stock of forms, assessments        etc needed for clinical work and keeping re-ordering when necessary        for the team. 

Promote and foster whole school wellbeing initiatives:

• Develop and implement pro-active school wide approaches to mental wellbeing including groups and parent workshops.
• Monitor trends across the whole school and implement effective practices where needed to address these trends.
• Contribute to the school communications system by contributing to the newsletter or other appropriate correspondence.

 Counsellor Responsibilities 

• Provide psychological assessment, counselling and consultancy to individual students and their parents
• Plan, develop and implement individual and group programs aimed at      assisting students and families with social and emotional well-being.
• Liaise with staff to support student well-being
• Commitment to the promotion of health and welfare within the school
• Liaise with community organisations and professionals as required
• A commitment to maintaining confidential case files and ensuring high        levels of discretion and confidentiality
• Perform any other duties as required by the Principal or Head of                 Department

 Essential Requirements for the Role:

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology and registered with  the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the specific developmental needs of school aged children and adolescents.
• Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psycho-social issues.
• Ability to provide educational and psychological testing.
• Experience working in a school or other suitable setting, with a strong understanding of legislative and ethical considerations in the field of psychology.
• The ability to work with diverse groups of professionals to identify and address students’ specific social, emotional, learning and behavioural needs.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs with groups of primary aged children.
• The ability to lead a team of colleagues, to establish effective clinical practices and priorities.
• Highly developed organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A NSW Working With Children Check Number.
• Current NSW Driver Licence as travel between campuses may be require

Salary and conditions are consistent with the NSW Christian Schools Teaching Staff Multi – Enterprise Agreement 2021.
