Lifeline WA are pleased to announce a new and exciting opportunity of Lead Group Facilitator – Eclipse Program to engage and facilitate group based, virtually delivered skills sessions for survivors of suicide attempts. Facilitators are responsible for guiding group members though content in a same and purposeful discussion that will help them address the issues for which the program is designed.
This role is being offered on a part time, 2 days per week basis. Due to funding, this is a fixed term contract until December 2025.
ABOUT US
Lifeline WA provides all Western Australians experiencing a personal crisis or thinking about suicide with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Our 13 11 14 service is a national crisis support number, available every day of the year, from any location in Australia. It is available to anyone – regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
Lifeline WA believes that almost all suicides are preventable and that by connecting vulnerable people with crisis support, these people can be kept safe. Our vision is for a community free of suicide. Our purpose is to prevent suicide, support people in crisis and reduce the stigmas, which can be a barrier to people seeking help.
ABOUT THE ECLIPSE PROGRAM
Lifeline WA’s Eclipse program for survivors of suicide attempts delivers a series of eight psychosocial skills sessions for at risk groups of adults in the wheatbelt. The groups are evidence informed by the Didi Hirsch Suicide Attempt Survivor groups (USA), evidence based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills training and utilizes aspects of the ASIST model of suicide prevention.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role you will be able to achieve and deliver on key outcomes:
- Provide support to the Peer Group Facilitator
- Ensure group sessions are facilitated in a safe online environment
- Assess participant suitability and readiness for the experience
- Provide suitable referrals to more appropriate services if applicants are assessed to be at imminent risk of harm or unprepared for the group
- Ensure individuals culture, beliefs, identity, gender and values are respected
- Report safety issues in a timely manner
- Attend practice supervision
- Maintain records to the appropriate standards
- Group participants will have increased coping skills around suicide
- Group participants will have increased knowledge about and, greater likelihood of using safety planning tools to prevent suicide
- Group participants will have an increased connectedness
Qualifications and/or experience
Required
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, welfare studies or counselling
- Direct experience of identifying and managing suicidal distress and emergency intervention
- Experience facilitating groups
- Experience in using teleconference mediums (Zoom, Teams) to deliver services to clients.
- A minimum of 12 months demonstrated experience working with individuals with a lived experience of suicide
