About the role

The Keep Embracing Your Success (KEYS) residential service, delivered in partnership with MacKillop Family Services and Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA), provides a multidisciplinary program for young people aged 13-16 years who are experiencing highly complex emotional and behavioural challenges due to adversity and currently in, or are likely to be placed in, residential care. KEYS is a transitional model, with placement duration from 6-18 months, that takes a new approach to working with highly vulnerable young people in out-of-home care who exhibit complex, risky and challenging behaviours utilising holistic, trauma-informed therapeutic approaches. Young people will receive a range of supports, therapeutic interventions and assisted to transition towards home-based care or directly to independent living.

 

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Lead Practitioner – Community Engagement for a permanent part time (34.2 hours per week) opportunity to work alongside a caring team in the Croydon area. You will provide practice leadership and coach a team to deliver person-centred, recovery-orientated services to support vulnerable young people build their capacity and daily living skills, enhance social and community connections, develop linkages with the support networks, promote wellbeing and achieve positive recovery outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Support young people to return their community, establish relationships with families and carers, build capacity and life skills, and enjoy a positive future through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Work in partnership with the Manager – Mental Health Clinician and contribute to service planning and review
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise working with young people with mental health issues, highly complex needs and emotional/behavioural difficulties, and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with partners, service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
