The Role:
The Learning and Teaching Leader: Student Progression contributes to the core strategic focus of the College to build a culture of expert teaching.
The Responsibilities:
Responsibility of the Learning and Teaching Leader – Student Progression is to be an effective member of the learning Executive and support the implementation of the Learning and Teaching leadership model within Emmanuel College.
- Member of Campus Administration Team
- Member of Learning Executive Team
- Individual student case management regarding progression for all year levels, including liaison Pastoral team to maintain a consistent approach
- Support Director of Learning with liaison and line management of Learning Leader Team as required
- In conjunction with Learning Leaders – preparation of exam documentation for all year levels.
- Development and implementation of Study Skills processes across all year levels
- Overseeing ACER Assessment Program for Years 7 – 10
- Work in conjunction with Director of Learning to develop subject selection and acceleration processes
- Liaise with Curriculum and Pastoral Leaders to ensure parents and students are fully informed in decision-making of subject selection
- Liaise with Learning & Teaching Leader, Inclusion in regard to implementation & monitoring of VCE Special Provision in in-school programs
- Meet as relevant with parents in students regarding academic progress, including Year 12 students
- Follow up students and implementation plans based on end-of-semester assessments
- Provisional N processes and related appeals
- Support Director of Learning with VIT requirements for Provisionally Registered Teachers
- Attend Year 12 Graduation and Celebration of Excellence
- In liaison with Director of Learning, arrange SAC reschedules as required
- Drive reporting, assessment and feedback process for the College
- Provide agenda items and resources to Director of Learning to support LLT & LTLT Meetings
- Direct student counselling and family communication in relation to Students
- Drive Year 12 Holiday homework & Trial Exam program and implementation
- Compile and present curriculum information at various events, including Senior Pathways Evening, Grade 6 information eventing, Yr Level assemblies etc Senior Pathways, Grade 6 information, Grade 6 mornings, Yr Level assemblies around curriculum.
- Support CO with NAPLAN, GAT & Exam arrangements
- Individual teacher management – including complaints, support etc
Key Selection Criteria:
The successful applicant must have:
- Commitment to Catholic Education – demonstrate an understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission
- Commitment to Child Safety – demonstrate an understanding of child safety and possess a familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety
- Education and Experience – Posses the relevant teaching qualification and experience as well as expertise in contemporary learning and teaching
- Leadership Experience – an understanding of this role as a faith leader and articulate a vision for student learning progression. The successful applicant will demonstrate expertise to work individually and collectively with students and staff to meet the specific learning needs of students
- Skill/Attributes – demonstrate an understanding of contemporary educational approaches such as intervention strategies for students, specific boys and girls education strategies, effective assessment approaches, and effective time management
*Current and valid registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and valid working rights
Terms and appointment:
- Commencing Term 4 2023, the Learning and Teaching Leader: Student Progression is a three-year fixed-term position of responsibility with an ongoing teaching position.
- The remuneration package is attractive and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
- The successful applicant will have a 0.67 Leadership & a 0.33 FTE teaching load.
