Empower Autism: Virginia
- Join a passionate team striving for positive social change with & for autistic people.
- Leadership role with an organisation where people are valued.
- Flexible part-time role with salary packaging benefits.
About the role: This is a challenging and exciting role reporting to the CEO and sitting on the leadership team. You’ll have responsibility for overseeing the delivery of our partner employer program, leading a small team of committed staff in supporting businesses to create autism inclusive workplaces and equipping employers with the capability and confidence, knowledge and tools to attract, retain and develop autistic talent.
The role is part time, and we would envisage this would equate to between 15 and 25 hours per week. We understand the value of work/life balance and would consider flexible arrangements for the right person.
About you: You thrive in an environment where people matter, every voice has weight, every opinion is respected, and diversity is embraced. You have strong operational and management skills and experience, but you prefer to lead and inspire rather than to manage! You’re an organised self-starter with previous experience in program management and a clear understanding of the benefits autistic employees bring to a workplace. You have proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and work to budgets and deadlines.
You have the ability and desire to build relationships with key stakeholders at an operational level. You are confident in your verbal communications and also possess well developed written communication skills.
Experience in capacity building and qualifications/past experience in employment, education or training would be well regarded. A knowledge and understanding of the disability sector, particularly in regard to autism is essential. Most importantly you will bring an autism positive mindset and a passion for bringing about real change to the autistic community!
To be suitable for this role, your qualifications will include:
- Tertiary qualification in a related field (desirable).
- Demonstrated understanding of autism and its impact on individuals, their families, friends and the community.
- Lived experience of autism will be highly regarded.
- A current (or ability to obtain) National Police Check, Working with Disability (yellow Card) check and a Working with Children (Blue Card);
- Current driver’s license.
About us: Empower Autism is a well-established, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing information, support and empowerment to autistic people, together with their parents, carers and families. We are strong advocates of peer-led support, and we value the active participation of those with lived experience. Our programs are innovative, inclusive, autism affirming and making a real difference!
We offer an inclusive and flexible workplace and are proud of the ‘clan’ culture and supportive team environment we’ve developed.
