JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role:

The Manager Government Relations plays a lead role in supporting White Ribbon Australia’s participation in key policy debates and connecting the organisation with government stakeholders. The role is focused on high-level, high-impact government relationships and advocacy at Federal, State and Territory levels.

Reporting to the National Manager White Ribbon Australia, the Manager Government Relations is accountable for the proactive management of government engagement opportunities to increase the profile of White Ribbon Australia, advocate for our policy agenda and identify funding opportunities that strengthen our capacity to deliver primary prevention programs across the country.

This position will be offered on a permanent full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Politics, Business or Commerce or equivalent work-based experience.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, including proven record of government relations, stakeholder engagement, familiarity with the political environment at a senior level and/or other industry-related work.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand a range of complex policy issues, and provide high quality analysis and advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced communication (written, verbal and public speaking), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex problems.
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence
