About Us

Flight Training Adelaide Queensland (FTAQ) is one of the leading Registered Training Organisation’s in aviation in the southern hemisphere. We provide world class aviation training solutions to students from Australia and internationally. We are located at Wellcamp Airport in Toowoomba QLD. 

FTAQ specialises in delivering to the highest standard, ab-initio pilot training for the airline industry. FTAQ has a long term contract to provide pilot training for the QANTAS pilot training academy. We have a modern and well-equipped campus, just outside the rural city of Toowoomba in South Queensland. The current flying fleet comprises of Diamond DA40 and DA42 aircraft.

About the role

FTA has been offering aviation courses to students for over 40 years. Our students come from all over the world to study with us and have a broad range of objectives and needs, which we aim to satisfy through the wide variety of courses and support services we offer.

Working in consultation with the Executive Team, the Manager of Student Welfare plays a key role in the experience of students and other visitors to our school. As part of a team, the Manager of Student Welfare aims to welcome, engage and support students throughout their journey at FTA Queensland, complete a range of associated administrative tasks, and assist both internal and external stakeholders by providing a high standard of service to all. 

All duties are completed in compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma of Counselling or higher applicable qualification
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact well with people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Sensitivity to student and staff needs.
  • Diligent, organised and able to prioritise.
  • Excellent Computer literacy (Office365, MS365).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working with Children Check (or equivalent).
  • High level of drive and commitment
  • Demonstrated achiever with solid leadership skills
  • Motived and able to identify, prioritise and execute tasks. 

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a relevant management role.
  • Background working in Education, especially in the Aviation industry
  • Experience organising events and activities for students.
  • Experience using a compliance system (e.g. CENTRIK)
  • Experience using a learning management system (e.g. Moodle)
  • Experience dealing with student accommodation.
  • Experience in handling payments and receipting.

Location

There is no scheduled bus service to the FTAQ campus and only a limited bus service that stops at Wellcamp Airport. The location of FTAQ campus from Wellcamp Airport is 3.7 km if walking. 

Free parking is available on campus, near the workplace, therefore, this role will suit someone who has access to private transport due to limited access of public transport.
