Position Overview:

As a Mental Health and Disability Support Worker at Sunflower Services, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with mental health challenges and disabilities in achieving their full potential and enhancing their overall well-being. You will work closely with clients, helping them develop essential life skills, providing emotional support, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one support to clients with mental health challenges and disabilities.
  • Assisting clients in daily living activities, such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
  • Following a support care plan and assist participant to meet NDIS goals. 
  • Light cleaning in the home. 
  • Helping the Participant access and engage in their local community. 
  • Offering emotional support, companionship, and a listening ear.
  • Encouraging social participation and community integration.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of clients.

Qualifications:

  • Compassion and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals with mental health challenges and disabilities.
  • Relevant experience in the field, although entry-level positions may be available for those with a strong passion for the work.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the dignity of each client.
