Part time 60 hours per fortnight

Lutheran Services is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the people and communities of Queensland since 1935. We provide quality, contemporary care and support for people of all backgrounds, at more than 20 locations throughout Queensland. Our dedicated workforce of nearly 1800 makes a difference to the lives of many people every day. They bring our vision to life – helping those we serve to pursue the lives they hope for, and enabling the communities we are a part of to thrive.

About the role

In this position you are part of a team who provide dedicated support for people living in aged care facilities. You will use your professional knowledge and skills to provide in-facility services to residents that have elected to be referred to this service. The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing evidence-based, time-limited psychological therapies which are adjusted to be responsive to the needs of older people to treat depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss and related mental health issues. Your work also includes assessment of potential risks of harm to themselves and others. Whilst the focus is on psychological intervention, collaboration with the aged care facility and other stakeholders including families is essential for a holistic client centred approach.

About you

You will be tertiary qualified in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Nursing or similar, with demonstrated work experience in mental health. You may hold current membership to a professional body. You bring extensive knowledge and experience of evidence based therapeutic frameworks and approaches. Ideally you will have experience in contemporary aged care practice and working with frailty and cognitive decline. This role will suit someone who enjoys working across various facilities and is interested in applying their professional skills to support local ageing residents to best live out this part of their lives.

Join our team. Love what you do.

Care for others and grow with a team that supports what’s most important to you.
