Mental Health Clinician | Community Cornerstone Medical Recruitment

JOB DESCRIPTION

On behalf of a well established Community Organisation in Mount Isa, we are now seeking a Mental Health Clinician to work as part of a multidisplinary team, to assess the social needs of individuals, families and groups, assist and empower people to develop skills needed to further wellbeing, social justice and social development, within the local community. This position is both in clinic and outreach in the Mount Isa community and surrounds. This is a permanent fulltime position Monday – Friday ( a fixed term 12 month contract may be considered for the right candidate).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality and culturally responsive individual and group case management to clients from youth, adults and families in the community.
  • Provide information on vocational, relationship, social and educational difficulties and issues, and work with people to help them to identify and define their emotional issues through therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy and other talking therapies.
  • Investigate, assess and provide treatment and counselling to foster optimal personal, social, educational and occupational adjustment and development.
  • Assess the social needs of individuals, families and groups, assists and empowers people to develop and use the skills and resources needed to resolve social and other problems, and furthers human wellbeing and human rights, social justice and social development.
  • Assist health and community groups to improve the health of individuals and the community by raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, disease & disability, and health-related issues.
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  
About You

  • Completed Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or Occupational Therapy
  • Professional Registration/Membership with AASW or AHPRA depending on speciality.
  • Previous experience in mental health setting
  • Demonstrated time management skills to manage a case load and set goals / objectives
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities
  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate/liaise with clients and members of the community.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable young people and their families with an understanding of the holistic needs of the client and their families.
  • Current Blue card, NDIS Worker Check, National Police Check or eligibility to obtain
  • Current open drivers licence

  
Salary – up to $105,414 + Super P.A (Based on Qualifications and experience) Salary Packaging available (more tax home pay) and rent subsidised as well as annual flight vouchers home.
