Mental Health Clinician – Eating Disorders Orygen

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your new team:
  
Orygen Specialist Program provides mental health services to young people aged 15-25 and their families/carers in Melbourne’s northwest and western suburbs.

The Orygen Eating Disorders stream is an emerging program that partners with young people, families/carers and the wider Orygen teams to provide evidence-based best practice eating disorder assessments and interventions. The team is made up of experienced clinicians providing primary and secondary consultations and assisting young people with mental ill health who are also experiencing eating disorders.
  
Your new role: 
  
A multidisciplinary role open to a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist or Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurse. In this role you will:

  • Provide support, supervision, primary and secondary consultations to clinicians across Orygen
  • Enhance skills in mental state examination, risk assessment and diagnostic clarification, formulation, psychological treatment, crisis intervention, individual service plans, crisis management plans, outcome measures, documentation of client’s progress in client files, discharge summaries and contact sheets, systems support for the young person, family/carers and wider system
  • Provision of case management or family work to selected clients and associated documentation
  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds 

About you:

  • Experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing eating disorders
  • Experience and expertise in providing acute mental health care management and/or eating disorder management
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client-centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations
  • Knowledge of the rationale and evidence for early intervention in mental illness
