About headspace

headspace Mildura is a youth friendly centre providing a range of evidence based, early intervention services to young people aged 12-25 years across four core streams: primary health care, mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD), and social/vocational services.  The clear intention is to significantly increase the number of young people that are identified and responded to with integrated evidence-based interventions, at the earliest possible point when problems emerge.

About the opportunity

headspace Mildura is seeking a Mental Health Clinician with an interest in youth mental health to join the team as Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools (EMHSS) Clinician for a fixed term period to the 30th June 2024. 

As the Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools Clinician, you will be primarily responsible for the provision of direct clinical care and secondary consultation services to enhance the physical and mental health outcomes of young people attending Victorian Government Secondary Schools.

What we are looking for

  • Approved degree and registration in Nursing, Social work, Psychology or Occupational Therapy 
  • An interest and passion for youth mental health and the provision of respectful, non-judgemental, and inclusive practice
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the provision of triage, assessment, planning, and intervention, including crisis management
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the provision of direct clinical care to young people aged 12-25 years who have mental health concerns
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Current working with children check, national police check and drivers licence
  • Evidence of healthcare worker immunisation or immunity to communicable vaccine-preventable diseases

Further information

This position is employed by Mildura Base Public Hospital who operates headspace Mildura and will be based onsite at the headspace centre. The successful applicant will work under the direction of headspace Centre Manager, and the Director of Child & Youth Mental Health Services, Mildura Base Public Hospital, ensuring all activities are in accordance with the Grant Agreement and direction provided by headspace National, Murray Primary Health Network, and Department of Health.
