This is a fantastic opportunity for a Social Worker, Psychologist, O.T or Mental Health Nurse with a minimum of two years’ previous experience of working in in the field of Health, Education, Disability or Social Services, to join their small but specialist and highly collaborative team in Geelong, to work to become a true specialist in Trauma-informed care.
The role:
- Provide long term therapeutic support services to children, young people, families and adults
- Complete functional behaviour assessments
- Develop Positive Behaviour Support plans and other Therapeutic Care Plans (TCPs) and train staff and carers to implement the plan, along with the participant.
- Assist participants in addressing underlying causes of behaviours of concern or challenging behaviours in a way that reduces the occurrence and impact of these on their life.
- Work to reduce or eliminate the use of restrictive practices.
- Conduct intakes (receive referrals, staff allocations).
- Feedback sessions with parents/carers/case workers/guardians, school staff, etc.
You:
- Degree qualified in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing
- Minimum of two years’ postgraduate working experience in related field (Health, Education, Disability or Social Services)
- Possess thorough understanding and knowledge of complex trauma and its effects.
- Experience conducting functional assessments and implementing Positive Behavioural support plans that are in line with NDIS requirements
- Advanced knowledge in specific interventions for childhood trauma and experience in dyad therapies
- Experience with Systemic interventions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent formal report writing skills
- MUST have full working rights to work in Australia
- A passionate and motivated attitude to work, particularly within a team environment
- Located near Geelong, Victoria; or be willing to commute there daily
- Willing to work in the office for face to face therapy; occasional 1 day per week WFH for administration days may be permitted.
Desirable
- 2 plus years of experience working with Children who have suffered direct and complex trauma
Additional Information
- A number of probity checks are required including COVID vaccine evidence, holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police check.
