About us

headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Wollongong work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
 
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Wollongong.  We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
 
About the position

The Mental Health Clinician Graduate will be working towards their full APHRA and/or mental health accreditation and will work within the scope of practice of their profession to deliver services to young people aged 12-25 referred to headspace. A higher level of supervision and support is provided in this role as you work towards gaining more experience as a Mental Health Clinician.
 
You will work collaboratively with a young person and their family/carers to identify support needs, goals and develop collaborative care plans. This position provides high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused interventions under supervision. 
 
The Mental Health Clinician works closely with other members of the team and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Wollongong.
 
This opportunity is part-time or full time (up to 38 hours per week), fixed term to 30 June 2025 with possibility of extension. Hours and days are negotiable.

What you’ll need
 
  1. Current full or provisional AHPRA registration as a psychologist, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist or social worker willing to work towards their mental health accreditation. 
  2. Experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies. 
  3. Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people, and their family and friends.
