Mental Health Clinician (Psychologist, OT, SW, Art Therapist, Diversional Therapist, Nurse)

  • Well established and cohesive Allied Health Team, working closely with Nursing and Psychiatrists within the hospital

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Mental Health Clinician with tertiary qualifications in appropriate disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Diversional Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or Nursing) to join the Allied Health team on a casual basis. The Allied Health team offers evidence-based therapy treatment programs for people with a range of psychiatric conditions or addiction.

As a Mental Health Clinician your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and facilitating evidence based group therapy across Inpatient and Outpatient Programs; exploring mental health concerns and development of adaptive coping strategies through the medium of art and creative processes.
  • Providing a high standard of clinical care
  • Contributing to Discharge Planning.
  • Working collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team, whilst also being able to work independently.
  • Having strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Adhering to Healthscope and site policies and procedures
  • Demonstrating a commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement through National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS), Workplace Health and Safety and the achievement of hospital accreditation

Located on the bank of the South Pine River, our 70 bed mental health facility provides comprehensive inpatient and day programs for our Queensland community. As a leading provider, we specialise in Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders and Trauma. We also deliver specialised therapies in EMDR, TMS and ECT.

About you:

To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the requirements below:

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in facilitating creative activities in a mental health setting
  • Knowledge and experience in a range of evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT and ACT
  • Comprehensive understanding of psychopathology and addiction
  • Mental Health Risk Assessment and Safety Planning Skills
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and report writing
  • Capacity to work well in a team and practice reflectively
