Where you will be based

Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services.

About the role

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service  model of care states: Care coordination is the main component of this model of care. 

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service aims:

  1. To provide effective care during the critical early phase of illness .This involves proactive engagement and initiation of clinical therapies.
  2. To reduce the duration of untreated psychosis, limit the impact of a first episode of psychosis, foster hope that recovery is possible and maximise the quality of life of consumers, carers and their families.
  3. To work in partnership with other agencies to provide psychosocial interventions aiming for maximal symptomatic and functional recovery and prevention of relapse.
  4. To utilise co located clinical and research models with a view to enhancing learning and improving care.
  5. To have a shared vision with co located services.

The clinician will practice in keeping with the standardised Sydney LHD position description for the profession in addition to this position description.

We are looking for someone who has… 

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications appropriate to profession. Full registration and eligibility for membership to professional association, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated competencies to provide contemporary mental health practice.
  • An unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence (P2 licence acceptable) and the ability to work business hours Monday to Friday.

    About working for SLHD

    This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2022_030)

     

    All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
