Mental Health Clinician

This role is part of our Wellbeing and Positive Ageing program, which provides therapeutic interventions for people living in aged care who may be struggling with mental health concerns. Our clinicians provide individual and group therapy tailored to the aged care environment. Our holistic approach includes family and staff. All support is delivered within the residential aged care home. The ultimate aim of the program is to improve the resident’s quality of life.
In this position you will use your specialist knowledge and skills to provide in-facility services to residents of residential aged care facilities that have elected to be referred to this service. You will establish strong therapeutic relationships that allow you to assess client needs to develop individualised care plans and provide support with a focus on the person’s mental and physical health. You will provide evidence-based low to moderate intensity therapeutic interventions, and maintain effective communication with family, carers and facility staff. You will also take opportunities to facilitate capacity building activities and opportunities.
You will bring a relevant Bachelor level degree (or higher) and demonstrated work experience in mental health, as well as relevant experience – or an interest in – ageing and working with older people. This role will suit someone who enjoys working across various settings and is interested in applying their professional skills to support local ageing residents to best live out this end stage of their life.
This part time position of minimum 30 hrs per fortnight is fixed term until 30 June 2023 (with the possibility of extension dependent on funding).
