headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Tuggeranong work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
 
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Tuggeranong.  We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality Services. Services focus on physical health, mental health, youth health, Aboriginal health & chronic disease management. Grant Pacific Health covers a large portion of South Eastern NSW, the A.C.T and Murrumbidgee region.  
 
About the position
 
An exciting opportunity exists at headspace Tuggeranong for a Mental Health Clinician or a Mental Health Clinician (intern) to join our team, working collaboratively with young persons and their family/carers to identify support needs, goals and develop collaborative care plans.
 
You will provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused interventions and will work closely with other members of the team and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Tuggeranong. As an Intern, you will receive supervision necessary for your registration.
 
The position is full time (part-time negotiable) and is fixed term until 30 June 2023 with possibility for extension. Full-time positions can choose to enjoy a rostered day off each month.

What You’ll need

  • Full or provisional registration with AHPRA as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (accredited or working towards accreditation with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation or working towards accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker or
    Current clinical or provisional registration Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) Mental Health Practitioner or
    Current membership of the Australian Counselling Association at a minimum level 2 (intern) or level 3 (mental health clinician)
  • Demonstrated understanding of assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and provision of evidence-based focused psychological strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people and their family, friends or carers.
