The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist/Psychologist or Social Worker (Mental Health – Crisis Stabilisation Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Deliver clinical services aimed at maintaining optimal level of consumer functioning in the least restrictive environment
  • Provide care delivery in a variety of hospital and community settings, specifically the Crisis Stabilisation Facility and Robina Emergency Department
  • Apply professional knowledge and skills in clinical decision making under the practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician
  • Contribute to the clinical education of students and other less experienced staff
  • Provide comprehensive care to consumers with an acute mental health issue

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (Occupational Therapist/Psychologist only)
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent part time (64 hrs p.f)
  • Base salary ranging from $52.86 – $56.60 per annum

The Acute Community Mental Health service seeks to promote an integrated specialised mental health assessment and treatment service that is consumer focused and recovery oriented.

The Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Unit and Robina Emergency Department team provides assessment, treatment and management including a range of short term options for consumers presenting or referred with mental health, alcohol and/or drug crisis/illness. Based in Robina.
