About the role

The Psychological Therapies in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) program provides on location in-reach Allied Health specialist services, high quality assessments, flexible therapeutic interventions and clinical supports to older people with severe and complex mental health challenges in aged care facilities. The focus of the service is to holistically support clients to achieve their better life goals which reflect Mind’s Model of Recovery Orientated Practice.

 

We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Mental Health Clinician for a 7 month fixed term, full or part time opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team across the Adelaide metropolitan area. You will utilise your expertise as a clinician to support the multidisciplinary team and offer meaningful evidence based, time limited therapies adjusted to meet the needs of older clients with severe and complex mental ill health.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide flexible therapeutic support services to aged care clients including assessment, diagnosis, brief clinical intervention, treatment planning and evaluation in line with professional and National Standards.
  • Support clients with care coordination and advocacy to meet their specific requirements.
  • Complete mental health assessments and provide therapies that are effective with older people including reminiscence therapy, validation therapy and adjusted cognitive behaviour therapy.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Collaborate with a range of services to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or other health related field and hold current registration with AHPRA, or AASW Mental Health accreditation.
  • Expertise in working with older people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Experience in the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including reminiscence therapies, validation therapy and adjusted cognitive behaviour therapy.
  • Ability to plan, implement and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
