About the role

Exciting opportunities are currently available at our Whittlesea site in Melbourne.  The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for responsible for providing high quality services to consumers experiencing mental health crisis presenting to Neami’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Service. They will have a strong emphasis on preparing the consumer to transition home with a focus on clinical assessment and collaborative care planning.

As an Allied Health Professional, the Mental Health Clinician will:

  • Engage guests and develop trusting and professional relationships.
  • Provide brief and detailed assessment and collaborative care plans to guests and ensure exit planning objectives to minimise the risk of relapse of the guests following leaving are met.
  • Engage guests, using a strengths-based approach to complete a mental health status measurement and a needs assessment.
  • Work within a holistic framework taking into account the needs of the guests, family, carers and other members of the community in order to ensure tangible outcomes.

What you must have to succeed

To succeed in this role, you will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
  • Accredited registration with a professional governing body such as AHPRA, ACA, AASW.
  • Proven experience at a clinical level within the area of mental health service delivery.
  • Experience working as a member of a multi- disciplinary team with the ability to inspire and facilitate team commitment and cooperation.
  • Experience working across a range of Commonwealth and State funded mental health programs and ensuring program implementation in line with funding requirements and contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and nurture partnerships with government and non-government mental health, emergency and community service providers.
  • Demonstrated skill in the application of recovery-based approaches in a clinical setting 
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of reports with recommendations.
  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • A valid Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered.
