JOB DESCRIPTION

headspace Southport is operated by Lives Lived Well, a progressive, for purpose organisation, delivering leading edge clinical services aimed at supporting people to live their lives well.

headspace provides mental health support to young people aged 12 – 25, with a range of services available for young people at risk of or experiencing early stages of a mental health disorder and common co-occurring difficulties. All of our services are young person focused, inclusive of family and friends with a strong focus on functional recovery, youth specific interventions and support from peers who have experienced the same or similar challenges. 

We currently have a number of vacancies in our teams, including 2 x ongoing full-time roles (one in the CCT/ FRT team and one in the Lighthouse team) and one full-time 6-month maximum term position in the Clinical team.

About the roles

We currently have part-time and full-time opportunities across the service based at Southport in our teams:

  • The Clinical Team (Southport) provide clinical support to young people including the engagement, screening, assessing and coordination of care for young people.
  • The headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) team provide comprehensive early intervention services to young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing an early episode of psychosis or at risk of developing psychosis.
  • Lighthouse is a recovery-oriented service which aims to provide access to effective, safe, and appropriate care for adolescents (aged 12 – 18 years) who are experiencing the impacts of complex trauma in their lives.


The remuneration for these positions will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience and will range between gross $82,043.52 to $93,860 per annum plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits.

 

About you

You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the appropriate evidence-based techniques to support your clients.


Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing, and eligibility for membership with the relevant professional body such as AHPRA or the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  2. Proven ability with case formulation and treatment planning including delivering evidenced based intervention. 
  3. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  4. Strong time management skills and ability to balance competing demands while maintaining your own wellbeing.
  5. Be passionate about early intervention for young people and their families.
  6. Have the ability to actively engage and work collaboratively with young people and their families/significant others to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
  7. Prior demonstrated experience in complex youth mental health management, experience with working within trauma, psychosis, and family systems is highly valued.
