About the Role

The Safe Haven Café is a ‘drop-in’ safe space for people experiencing mental health concerns or psychological distress as an alternative to presenting to the Emergency Department.

You will work in a team with Lived experience peer workers at the Safe Haven Café to provide peer-led support, connection, advice or assistance with navigating the mental health system for consumers and others who access the Café.

  • Co-ordinate the operation of the Safe Haven Café.
  • Assist in building consumer and carer partnerships and involvement in the Café.
  • Recruit, orientate and support a small number of Safe Haven peer workers
  • Promote the Safe Haven Café with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the café through data collection and other activities.

Classifications for this position will range from:

  • OT/SW Grade 2 YB20 – YB23 or YC42 – YC45 ($86,304 – $99,210 per annum pro rata)
  • RPN Grade 3 NP81 – NP74 ($99,439 – $110,432 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
  • Degree (minimum) in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Division 1 or 3.
  • Bachelor of Social Work (B.SW). Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work and registered as a Social Worker with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Eligible for membership of Australian Association of Occupational Therapy and registered as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and an understanding of the role of peer workers.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills.
  • The successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification clinical experience within Mental Health Services
