About the role

We are seeking a values driven Clinician who will to provide assessment, treatment and support for young people presenting with comorbidity involving AOD dependency and mental health in an innovative, responsive and flexible youth support service. This will be achieved through assessment, treatment matching, goal setting, regular review, ongoing counseling therapy consultations, exit strategy and follow up.

The main goal of the service is to assist young people to establish and maintain a positive, healthy lifestyle for themselves within the community, in a manner consistent with funding guidelines, ensuring service delivery to clients is appropriate, effective, compliant and of high quality.

You will successfully

  • Provide high quality engagement, assessment, treatment and support to individuals and families who access Youthlink headfyrst.
  • Providing evidence based counselling interventions for young people in the provision of evidence based counselling services.
  • Providing appropriate referral pathways and support for young people requiring further support.
  • Provide evidence-based, practical, individualised behaviour assessment and support for young people with complex support needs.
  • Maintains counselling documentation, plans & reports.
  • Ensures to follow all internship requirements (4+2 or 5+1 pathways), as set out by AHPRA. This includes maintaining the required professional development and supervision hours (i.e. 1 hour of supervision must be sought for every 17.5 hours of psychological practice).
  • Ensures to seek clinical support from Co-Ordinator/onsite manager when dealing with risk clients
  • Routinely screens young people in line with service procedures
  • Protects & maintains client confidentiality whilst adhering to legislative privacy principles & TSA polices & procedures

This is full-time, max term(1 year from hire date) position, located in Blacktown, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SACS NSW Level 4.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology (must hold Provisional Registration with AHPRA or have internship documentation sent to AHPRA within a fortnight of commencing employment).
  • Clinical experience in providing evidence based treatment.
  • Ability to build rapport and engage with young people.
  • WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation.
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Experience in the delivery of mental health services inclusive of specialist skills in assessing, managing and treating clients in a cross cultural setting.
  • Able to demonstrate the importance of and have a clear and strong understanding of the value of team work
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to impart knowledge in a learning environment
  • Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience with report writing and electronic client information management systems.
  • A current driver’s license.
