About the Role
MyStep to Mental Wellbeing Counsellors provide consumer focused, goal oriented clinical care and targeted psychological interventions to consumers referred to the MyStep to Mental Wellbeing Program. This clinical position involves the provision of comprehensive assessment and the delivery of evidence based psychological intervention to consumers with low, medium and high intensity needs. This may include working with consumers with varied needs including mental illness, disorder or dysfunction, consumers with emotional difficulties and experiencing life transition, distress and/or crisis.
MyStep to Mental Wellbeing counsellors will provide consumer focused, trauma informed, goal oriented psychological interventions according to contemporary evidence-based practice, including; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Additionally, counsellors will provide appropriate education, health promotion and prevention for consumers, carers, families, students, colleagues and other groups or individuals to enhance understanding and knowledge about mental health.
This role may involve some outreach to alternative sites within the district and will involve the delivery of flexible therapy a range of methods including face-to-face and telehealth.
