The Opportunity:
- Short-term, part-time locum assignment with a leading not-for-profit to deliver specialist mental health counselling.
- Using evidence-based practice, conduct intake and assessment to develop a mental health treatment plan and up to 10 follow-up counselling sessions.

The Duties
- Provide evidence-based intake, assessment and counselling services to individuals facing mental health challenges.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with local organisations and referring agencies.
- Co-facilitate safe and timely psycho-educational group programs.
- Identify and follow up any risk issues as required.
- Refer clients to appropriate internal and/ or external specialist services, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client records, sharing with appropriate stakeholders in line with organisational, funding body and legislative requirements.
The Need to Haves:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology/ Social Work/ Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing
- Maintain professional registration with AHPRA or AASW as well as discipline relevant Mental Health accreditation (MHASW, BAMH endorsement OT)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in counselling (focused psychological strategies)
- Demonstrated understanding of client centred practice, risk assessment and safety planning
- Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 2014
