Seeking a passionate and enthusiastic support worker to provide innovative, flexible, person centred support to people living with mental illness.

About the Role

  • Full time, Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2023
  • CSD Level 2 from $83,592- $93,532 per annum (pro rata) + super + salary packaging

Psychosocial Support Services are delivered across the Perth Metropolitan region by Neami National under National Psychosocial Support Measure (NPSM) and Adult Community Mental Health (ACMH) programs. These services provide community-based rehabilitation and recovery support to people experiencing mental ill-health who require assistance in the areas of skills and capacity building to enhance their emotional and mental wellbeing. The services are offered in groups and individual one-on-one settings.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, alongside Community Rehabilitation Support Workers (CRSW), Peer Support Workers (PSW), other allied health staff and the Service Manager to provide high quality, effective and efficient counselling services. The Counsellors role is to work with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties to help them bring about effective change and/or enhance their wellbeing This includes conducting assessments, contributing to recovery planning, and providing a range of Mental Health specific interventions which focus on improving mental health recovery. The Counsellor will also build capacity within the Psychosocial team and support referral pathways for consumers at the service.

  • Provide direct support and rehabilitation to consumers
  • Development, design, and implementation of relevant groups supports.
  • Work within a recovery and trauma-based model
  • Maintain records and resources
  • Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
  • Work within a collaborative team approach

What will you bring to the role?

  • Relevant transferable experience in a similar role
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the recovery model for mental health

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current WA Working with Children Check required before commencement of work (employee responsibility)
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Covid19 Vaccination (including 3rd dose)
