About the role

This role within the Mental Health Education Programs complements the broader headspace Schools and Communities programs and holds a strong focus on building the mental health literacy and capacity of parents and carers, wider school communities, headspace centres and other local services to implement an approach to evidence-based mental health promotion and early intervention.

The Mental Health Education Consultant will work with key internal and external stakeholders to provide mental health education sessions to regions across Australia where there is increased need in the specific communities. In addition, this role will also work in partnership with the eSafety Commissioner to develop and deliver workshops to the community around online safety for young people and their families.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will possess a tertiary qualification in either mental health or education and training, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Your highly developed communication skills will allow you to effectively deliver training packages and you will demonstrate the ability to engage, liaise and interact with a broad range of audiences. You will also be available to deliver workshops in the evening throughout the week.

This role is offered until 30 June 2023 in line with our funding term.

  • Have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent, and/or pass all of the WWCC(s) required for this role (please note that for some roles, headspace requires WWCCs for other State/Territories in addition to your Home State)
  • Satisfactorily undergo a headspace Police Check
  • Have proof of a Covid-19 vaccination in accordance with the headspace COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policyand any Government directives
