Background
Working across Ballarat Community Health’s (BCH) various mental health programs including our psychosocial programs Connecting2Community, Intensive Mental Health Role, After Hours Alcohol and Other Drug, and Mental Health Program, HeadtoHealth, and our Mental Health Group Programs we aim to address the mental health needs of community members.
The Opportunity
The Mental Health Intake Clinician will function as a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team. As the Mental Health Intake Clinician you will be responsible for a range of clinical services, including treatment coordination, intake, mental state examinations, risk assessments, care planning, case management, group work and discharge planning.
You will be the initial contact for consumers, carers, and other professionals making contact with BCH regarding our mental health programs. This might be via phone, email or direct face to face contact.
To be successful for this role you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology
- Previous experience in providing expert clinical assessment, triage and intake skills and clinical mental health interventions and when required short term treatment
- Experience working in an environment with a focus on clients with complex needs
- Understanding of current mental health system, and local service providers
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to successfully manage difficult situations
