About the position

The Mental Health Intake Clinician will be responsible for undertaking region wide clinical intake assessment for GPH mental health services, improving referral pathways and managing demand for people with low to moderate mental health needs across a variety of programs.

The position involves a high level of engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders including consumers and their families and carers, GPH mental health employees, external Mental Health providers, General Practitioners, government and non-government organisations.

Based in our Wollongong hub, this opportunity can be part-time or full-time, with hours and days negotiable. The position is fixed term to 30 June 2024.

Full-time positions have the option for a Rostered Day Off each month.

We are looking for someone with:
 
  1. Tertiary Qualifications in a clinical health related field and be registered (or provisionally registered) with AHPRA or be a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker who’s eligible for registration with the AASW. 
  2. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing case management and coordination of client needs for across all age groups.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of people presenting with mental health and/or substance use problems.
  4. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with people.
High level written & verbal communication skills and IT proficiency are required for this role.
