WCS has been providing community mental health outreach to the Canberra community for over twelve years. Offering a stepped model of care, vulnerable Canberrans can access recovery-orientated community programs. WCS currently has six community mental health programs:

  • New Path – supporting participants with severe mental illness with complex needs with early intervention community outreach. 
  • Continuity of Supports – supporting participants with severe and persistent mental illness with complex needs with lighter touch group and individual support.
  • Transition to Recovery – supporting participants with significant mental illness requiring sub-acute transition support through intensive outreach in clinical partnership with ACT Health. 
  • Southside Community Step Up, Step Down – supporting participants in serious mental health crisis through short term, intensive residential and psychosocial support.
  • The Way Back Support Service – supporting participants who have experienced a suicide attempt with up to 12 weeks of support to rebuild community supports and stay safe. 
  • Hoarding Advocacy Support Service – supporting participants who experience severe hoarding and/or squalor with complex case manage, groups and training.   

Woden Community Service’s Mental Health Line has introduced a new and exciting role to support our mental health teams. The Mental Health Intake Coordinator role will collect and analyse data through our case management systems and feedback tools to maximise our reporting and performance for internal and external stakeholders. This role will also support our teams by coordinating our centralising our referral and intake processes, enabling service users to be cross-referred into the most appropriate program, ensuring that no participant fails to receive appropriate care or attention due to procedural shortcoming.

You will bring your expertise in data analytics and coordination, demonstrating an ability to build our reporting capabilities to measure customer satisfaction, program performance and social impact across all our programs. Utilising your problem-solving skills, you will embed efficient intake and referral systems to ensure seamless pathways for participants and referring partners.

Our Offer

  • Fixed-term, full-time position up to 30 June 2024, with possibility of extension 
  • Salary of $82,326.30 p.a. plus 11% superannuation
  • Salary packaging (up to $15,899 per year) plus meal and entertainment cards
  • Paid shutdown leave on standard working days between Christmas and New Year

Experience & Qualifications  

  • Tertiary qualifications in a community or public-health related field or intake or referrals processes within the human services sector with relevant experience. 
  • Proficient in data-centric applications such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated good communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills to be able to interact positively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential enquiries and information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and build and maintain sound relationships with individuals, carers and families based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
