Mental Health Liaison Officer Carers NSW

JOB DESCRIPTION

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are excited to be growing our team and are looking for a Mental Health Liaison Worker to work across the region, based in Coffs Harbour.

 As the Mental Health Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for connecting with mental health providers, carer support groups and organisations to create awareness, generate referrals and encourage carers who are caring for someone with a mental health issue or who are experiencing mental health issues themselves to access Carer Gateway services.

 

This is a contract position until 30 June 2024, full time or part time considered. 

 

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

 

·        Tertiary qualification in Social Work or other relevant discipline and/or ability to show demonstrated work experience relevant to the role

* Demonstrated experience in liaising with mental health organisations, service providers and community organisations

* Demonstrated experience working in the mental health sector

* Understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue

·        Knowledge of the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to carers

·        Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

·        Understanding of intake, assessment and referral processes provided as part of a telephone information, support and planning process

·        Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting and privacy requirements

·        Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

* Current NSW Drivers licence and the capacity to travel across the region

Salary and Benefits

The Salary is around $78K – $84K+ super. Additional benefits include salary sacrificing benefits, flexible work arrangements, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities and health and wellness programs.
