About Baptcare
Baptcare is a leading, purpose-driven organisation that provides residential and community support for older adults, support to children, families and people living with a disability, financially disadvantaged people and people seeking asylum. We respect all faiths and beliefs and actively promote inclusion and diversity.
Baptcare’s psychosocial services journey started in 2013 with the Foundations program (formally MICare); since then, we have developed a suite of three mental health programs across Tasmania under the banner name ‘Mindset TAS’.
Mindset and Lived Experience Knowledge and Experience
The Mindset practice approach reflects the skills and attributes of a diverse workforce. We recruit to culture and celebrate the practitioner-led learnings and lived experiences that our workforce bring to their daily practice.
We are deeply committed to playing our role in the ongoing growth and development of a strong, supported and valued Lived Experience workforce in Tasmania.
Here are some ways we foster balance and growth:
- Supportive and comprehensive induction processes: there’s a lot to learn in a new role and our induction program provides a mix of clear online learning pathways; mentoring and practice shadowing, ongoing training, and development opportunities – we are invested in your development from the start!
- Flexible working: We understand balancing work and life isn’t always easy, so we offer a flexible work model at Baptcare to empower our employees to make time for what’s important to them.
- Paid weekly Wellbeing Hour or Extra week paid leave per annum: we want to make our contribution to the maintenance of great employee health and wellbeing – we like to ‘walk our talk’ in Mindset!
- Connection: We focus on creating a work environment where our people can thrive in their roles. We know that when we feel connected to each other and to purpose, we do our nest at work and have plenty left in reserve to invest in all other aspects of our lives.
There is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Lived Experience team and we can’t wait to discover our new Mental Health Peer Practitioner!
Our Mindset suite of psychosocial programs’ service models are designed to adopt a dual focus of Mental Health Practitioners partnering with Mental Health Peer Practitioners because we understand that power of providing the right support at the right time for people who are experiencing challenges with their mental health.
Mental Health Peer Practitioners will provide additional support for individuals who may experience value from building relationship with a person who is skilled in sharing an understanding of self-determination, service-use, and their personal journey of recovery/healing.
The Mental health Peer Practitioner may also be asked to provide representation of a lived experience perspective at internal meetings and facilitate internal activities to ensure we offer the best possible programs.
