About You
Passionate about mental health and seeing people reach their potential. You will have relevant skills to utilise your lived/living experience of mental health or addiction to help improve recovery outcomes for those you support. Further to this, you will possess:

  • Effective interpersonal skills and communication skills, including the ability to contribute positively within a team
  • The ability to approach problem situations creatively, to be resourceful and reflective
  • Good understanding of dual diagnosis, AOD, trauma informed care and the recovery model of support
  • A willingness to work in a flexible and agile manner, being open to new ideas and have a creative way of thinking with high energy and a can-do attitude
  • Lived/living experience of mental health problems or emotional distress, and a willingness to be purposeful in using this experience to support others

About the Role
We take appropriate actions to ensure that our staff and the people we support are as safe as possible. You will be expected to adhere to all OHS standards, requirements and processes, including (but not limited to) wearing appropriate PPE and regular hygiene and cleanliness practices. 

This role is responsible for providing support for participants in a Prevention and Recovery Care Unit (PARC) operated by Barwon Health. People stay for an average of fourteen days. We provide care and support to people during early stages of relapse (step-up) or immediately post discharge from hospital (step-down).

To achieve this, the role entails:

  • Working collaboratively with Monash Health clinicians to deliver a wellbeing program that meets the recovery needs of people who are staying at PARC.
  • Work with people experiencing mental health issues on a 1:1 and group basis to enable them to have a voice and choice to thrive, leveraging your lived/living experience where relevant
  • Working collaboratively with the families, carers, clinical and other professionals in a person’s network to ensure a holistic approach to meeting individual needs
  • Support individuals to work toward their goals as identified in their recovery plans through crisis and incident management and support to maintain or create meaningful activity through participation in community life, including education, employment and utilising public transport
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and reports

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, on rotating AM and PM shifts. Contract to June 2025.

It is a requirement of this position to meet all compliance requirements concerning NDIS Work Screening, Working With Children card, work rights and possess a current & valid driver’s licence.
