  • Full time role based in Tennant Creek (till 30 June 2023)

Or 

  • Based in Darwin with fly-in/out option, 3 weeks in Tennant Creek 1 week in Darwin
  • SCHADS Award Level 6 – $107,972 trp (including salary $96,970)
  • Salary packaging option (up to an additional $15,895 p/a)
  • Relocation assistance offered 
  • 3 months subsidised single person accommodation in shared facility offered if based in Tennant Creek

With over 20 locations across the Northern Territory and APY Lands our non-profit organisation has grown to over 250 team members who are committed to providing important social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools, and agencies across the Northern Territory.

Our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Team aims to partner with community members in Tennant Creek to address challenges that affect wellbeing. Team members hold portfolios in areas such as suicide prevention and youth mental health.

About the role

As part of a service commitment to ‘Our People Helping Our Mob’ in Tennant Creek, the Mental Health Practice Specialist brings their mental health expertise to the SEWB Team to mentor and support skills for practice. The role acts as a resource to several program areas including, but not limited to, suicide prevention and Youth Mental Health. The includes.

 

  • Provide case consultation and advice on complex case work and clinical practices. 
  • Work with SEWB team members to develop place-based models of care that are culturally informed, family-centered and guided by best practice literature. 
  • Facilitate culturally safe learning forums and support wellbeing and healing practices within the team.
  • Support staff to facilitate participatory approaches to program development and planning.
  • Support teams to develop and implement programs, as per program guidelines and plans.
  • Provide clinical and organisational supervision

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant qualification in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology and minimum five years’ experience in relevant practice and team leadership 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including report writing and case note writing and supervision, and the ability to communicate effectively with managers, staff and stakeholders across a range of diverse cultural groups and settings.
  • Experience in providing supervision to multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
