About the role

Catherine’s House is a world-class, perinatal, and infant mental health integrated model of care, providing both inpatient and outpatient services to public and private consumers.  The Case Coordinator will support intake process for inpatient services, as well as consultation and liaison support for those post-discharge to the inpatient unit. 

With one in five mums and up to one in ten fathers experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health issues before or after the birth of a child, this new facility will triple the number of public beds in Queensland from 4 to 12 for families in need of perinatal mental health support.

As an integral part of our MDT, our Case Coordinator role will provide case co-ordination to consumers admitted to Catherine’s House Inpatient Unit. Part of this role involves the delivery and development (where applicable) of group programs for the Private Day Program.

This is a permanent position working Full-Time (38 hours), with some flexibility regarding days and hours.

Salary range: $37.13 – $54.43 (Health Practitioner Level 3) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging

What you’ll be doing

The role involves but is not limited to:

  • Provide quality clinical practice to mother-baby, dads and their families and deliver evidence-based, group and individual interventions
  • Provide discipline specific treatment, care and assessments to consumers admitted to the inpatient unit of Catherine’s House, including group work
  • Practice in accordance with relevant legislation, Acts and agreements, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices
  • Provide perinatal and infant mental health assessment and treatment and ensures mothers, babies and families receive consistent coordinated care that addresses their psychological, emotional, and physical needs
  • Provide advice and assistance in the development of effective interventions for consumers experiencing perinatal mental health conditions
  • Provide ongoing assessment to monitor and review the effectiveness of intervention strategies implemented
  • Attend psychosocial meetings
  • Contribute to a network of referral options and information for consumers with perinatal and infant mental health concerns
  • Facilitate access to mental health services for mothers and babies with perinatal and infant mental health needs or ensure other adequate follow up is arranged for their ongoing care upon discharge
  • Delivery and development of therapeutic group content for the Private Day Program for private outpatients
  • Contribute to the integration and evaluation of strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement and research within Catherine’s House

About you

To be successful in this position you will ideally have::

  • A degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). Tertiary qualifications for Social Work from overseas institutions require the applicant to include official notification from AASW that the qualification has been assessed as eligible for membership
  • Mental Health Accreditation or willingness to work towards same
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to professional development and quality improvement
  • Current membership with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to provide an advanced level of skilled mental health clinical assessment and interventions
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical practice and application of clinical judgement
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to effectively establish priorities and deliver outputs within agreed timeframes,
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability and experience in establishing and developing key relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in or willingness to gain experience in clinical research
  • Previous experience working in an Acute Mental Health setting
