Occupational Therapist 1/2 - ($70,944.00 – $101,211.00) per annum
Registered Nurse – ($67,357.32 – $94,568.44) per annum
Social Work Level 1/2 – ($70,944.00 – $101,211.00) per annum

What you’ll be doing:
Are you looking towards building your career in an area where you can really make a difference? NBMLHD is currently seeking a passionate candidate to fill the vacancy of Mental Health Professional in our Homelessness Mental Health Team. This position is open to candidates with qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Social Work or as a Registered Nurse, and our preferred candidate will join a dedicated and professional close knit team that is well supported. The Homelessness Mental Health team is co-locacted with a specialist housing provider in Station Street, Penrith, close to the Penrith train station and Penrith Westfields. The Mental Health Clinician of the Homelessness Mental Health Team will provide mental health assessments and interventions to a caseload of consumers experiencing homelessness.

They will be required to perform duties in accordance with recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices and contribute to strengthening partnerships with mental health services and housing service providers.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

 

 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist Level 1/2 currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or for Social Workers eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  2. Demonstrated experience in mental health assessments, providing care to people with mental health issues together with demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act and related legislation.
  3. Demonstrated reasoning skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as the ability to work effectively with service partners to support consumers’ recovery.
  4. An understanding of recovery orientated care with demonstrated ability to meaningfully collaborate with consumers and their family and carers regarding mental health service provision.
  5. Able to participate as a member of the team in quality improvement strategies, development of policies and procedures and clinical research.
  6. Excellent level of verbal/written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these skills.
  7. Computer competency including demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems used in Health settings.
  8. Current unrestricted class C NSW driver’s licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
