What you’ll be doing

  • In conjunction with the Executive, Service Directors, and Service Managers to provide leadership, expertise and strategic direction to ensure that the District provides contemporary, effective, specialist, recovery oriented mental health rehabilitation services.
  • To provide leadership and coordination in the implementation of key NSW strategic directions related to mental health rehabilitation and recovery-oriented service provision within the SESLHD.
  • To monitor and improve clinical practices through clinical governance, benchmarking, quality activities and practice improvement initiatives.
  • To work collaboratively with Executive, Service Directors, Managers and other key services to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to enhance the facilitation of support to people in need.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Qualifications in a Mental Health related discipline – Occupational Therapist (current registration with AHPRA), Social Worker (eligible for membership of AASW), Registered Nurse (Current Division 1 Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia) or Senior Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist (eligible for Registration with Psychology Board of Australia).
  2. High level clinical skills and extensive experience relevant to Mental Health Rehabilitation.
  3. Experience working at an Area/District level with capacity to integrate operational and strategic facets of service development.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to quality/clinical practice improvement and workforce development.
  5. High level organisational and project management skills.
  6. Well-developed negotiation, facilitation and leadership skills.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to recovery focused approach to service provision and development.
  8. Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
