We are currently recruiting an experienced mental health social worker in a contractor role, to join our amazing team. We are looking for someone warm and engaging, who is willing to be creative in their delivery of support to young people. The work at Child’s Play Qld involves working with a range of young people with emotional, behavioural, developmental, and social issues.
The role will involve providing play-based therapies and interventions to children and adolescents with a variety of presenting issues, whilst working closely with families and referring professionals. This role will focus daily on a diverse mix of presentations among children, teens, and their families, including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, ODD, and trauma. We also have a strong interest in someone who would be prepared to offer group therapy sessions to children, as well as supportive psycho-educational sessions to parents.
The ideal candidate will be available a minimum of 4 days, preferably 5 days, per week in our Holland Park West Clinic. Start date and days of the week are flexible and can be discussed with the suitable applicant.
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
- At least 2 years’ registration in with appropriate professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW) is desirable, however provisional registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA will be considered.
- Experience working in an effective, evidence-based and culturally sensitive way with young people and their families from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum two years’ experience in delivering Focused Psychological Therapies to young people.
- Clinical skills in safely assessing and managing at-risk young people’, including suicide and violence risks.
- Has a strong interest in children/adolescents and families
- Organisation and time management skills
- Self-motivated, passionate, and driven
- Sound computer literacy skills
- Experience with working with young people with various modalities
- The ability to think ‘outside the box’ in using evidence-based practice
- An innovative and positive person
- Passionate about making a difference to the community
- Self-motivated, innovative, warm, and personable
- Able to work in a close team environment
- Ability to also work autonomously
