JOB DESCRIPTION

Mental Health Social Worker – Full Time or Part Time (Negotiable) 

Pika Wiya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (PWHSAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which offers comprehensive primary health, social and emotional wellbeing support to Aboriginal people in Port Augusta, with clinics located in Port Augusta, Davenport Community, Copley and Nepabunna.

The PWHSAC employs staff made up of mixed disciplines that includes General Practitioners, Nursing, Allied Health, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Reception, Finance and Administration staff.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join the Mental Health team at Pika Wiya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation.

 

About the role:

  • Assess and treat individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drugs.
  • Counsel clients in individual or group sessions to assist dealing with substance abuse, trauma, mental or physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
  • Interview clients, review records, conduct assessments, or confer with other professionals to evaluate the mental or physical condition of clients.
  • Collaborate with Mental Health psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, physicians, or nurses to plan or coordinate treatment, drawing on social work experience and the patient’s needs.
  • Participate in MDT and present case reviews for ongoing management planning. 

About You:

  • Completed Bachelor’s or higher in Social Work
  • AASW Accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker.
  • Eligible to register to provide services through Medicare
  • Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (desirable)
  • National Police Check
  • Department of Human Services Working With Children and Aged Care Sector Screenings
