About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker with Belonging Care, you will be an integral part of our team, providing vital community-based and residential care to children, young people, and adults experiencing mental ill health. Your role will be diverse and impactful, offering emotional support, assisting with skill development, and helping clients engage with their communities. You will be working in a supportive and values-driven environment that prioritises compassion, integrity, collaboration, respect, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality services and foster positive educational and social experiences.
- Support clients in reintegrating into their community, living independently, and leading meaningful lives through a structured recovery approach.
- Provide specialist support to individuals with ASD and complex mental health needs, using evidence-based approaches to enhance their quality of life.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide specialised psychosocial support.
- Design and implement group programs that help clients develop skills and focus on recovery.
- Coordinate with various services and the community to ensure a comprehensive, integrated approach to clients’ recovery goals.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Disability Support, or a related health field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with ASD, including an understanding of sensory needs, communication challenges, and behaviour support strategies.
- Expertise in working with individuals facing mental health challenges, complex needs, and engaging with families and carers.
- Ability to provide information and mentoring to build capability, establish social connections, and facilitate access to relevant services.
- Prior experience working with individuals with complex needs in the mental health and/or disability sector.
- Experience in leading group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health is desirable.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.
- Understanding of the Community Services sector and the ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams, and key stakeholders.
Pay & Work Schedule
- Pay rate is dependent on qualifications and experience.
- Must be available to work mornings, sleepovers, or active overnight shifts, including weekends.
