Forward Focus Australia is a growing NDIS provider, delivering recovery focused support to people with a lived experience of psychosocial disability.
We are based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and we also service the greater Melbourne area. We are in the process of developing an innovative group programme and building partnerships with other industry stakeholders. Our small and passionate team, pride ourselves on having a “ can do” attitude.
Qualifications & experience
- Cert III, IV or higher in disability, mental health ,community services or tertiary qualifications in health sciences.
- A minimum of 6 – 12 months experience working with individuals or groups experiencing mental illness.
- An understanding on how to manage a case load and do this autonomously, including organising your own roster and meeting deadlines/appointments.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people and their families.
- Lived experience would be advantageous.
- An ability to write comprehensive case notes which are articulate, clear and concise.
- A non judgemental attitude towards people‘s needs and situations, with a strengths based outlook.
- A passion for mental health and possess person centered values and ethics, with a commitment to working with people from all walks of life.
- We need individuals who have a high level of emotional intelligence and self awareness.
- Current Working With Children’s and National Police Check.
- Current valid First Aid Certificate.
- NDIS worker screening clearance
- Own your own/access to a vehicle, full comprehensive vehicle insurance and hold a current Victorian Driver’s License or equivalent.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19. (Proof will be required)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Working closely with clients and their informal supports to identify their needs and ensure they are linked with appropriate services.
- Build their community, develop their self reliance, daily routines and living skills, along with helping to explore innovative opportunities and options to be able to live their best life.
- Promoting and fostering independent decision-making, including choice and control.
- Coordinating and liaising with service providers, and reviewing goals, and jointly determining new ones with clients.
- Working with a client-centered approach.
