Real Community Services was established in 2006 and provides thousands of personal support hours per week to participants living with disability, acquired brain injury or neurological conditions. Real Community Services (RCS) provide experienced, quality services to people living with a disability within an in-home or community setting.

 

With a brilliant team across the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Greater Brisbane and Ipswich regions, we are there to help our Participants to achieve their goals to live a fulfilling life. The role

We are currently recruiting for experienced and enthusiastic Mental Health Support Workers in the Gold Coast region. These roles include shifts such as days, evenings, awake shifts, weekend and short notice shifts so flexibility is a must.

Our Support staff are responsible for providing exceptional support to our participant in their home and in the community with complex mental illness, current and past substance abuse, and other social barriers. Activities include personal care, domestic assistance, transport, social assistance, organising appointments and ensuring attendance. RCS Support Workers will strive to make our participants feel valued, respected and engage them in meaningful opportunities and relationships.

 

 

Support worker requirements

  • Strong understanding of supporting clients with TBIs and complex mental health needs
  • Experience in supporting clients with challenging behaviors
  • Skills/experience in working with diversity
  • Ability to understand and work from recovery and behavioural plans
  • Have the knowledge and skills to identify when participants are escalating and re direct or deescalate where appropriate
  • Have the ability to support participants with personal care and domestic duties in a respectful way
  • Have flexibility to work on a 24/7 roster which includes days, evenings, awake shifts and weekends.
  • Relevant nationally recognised qualification highly desirable
  • Have a Current Driver’s License and willingness to use own vehicle (if required)
  • Have a Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencing)
  • Paid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain prior to commencing)
  • Have completed the NDIS Support Worker Orientation Module or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Smart phone with internet access
  • Two current (within the past 2 years) professional references from a supervisor will be required
