Sunflower House is committed to providing psychosocial support. Our mission is to assist participants develop core capacity building life skills through professional psychosocial support services.
Sunflower House provides mental health services in a group and 1:1 capacity to the community of Wagga Wagga and surrounds.
We are currently looking for an experienced Casual Mental Health Support Worker with sector knowledge to join our team.
Qualifications & experience
- Qualifications relevant to mental health and/or knowledge and skills gained through work experience
Knowledge and awareness of mental illness (ideally psychosocial disability) and related comorbidities and the associated impact on individuals, carers and the community - Experience in leading and/or supporting participants that align with their NDIS Goals to enhance wellbeing and mental health
Smartphone with internet capabilities
Current NSW Drivers Licence
Willingness to use your own vehicle, ensuring your vehicle has full comprehensive insurance - Current Mental Health First Aid and First Aid/CPR qualifications or willingness to obtain
Current National NDIS Worker Screening Check or ability to gain one before commencement of work - Additional administrative hours available for the right candidate
Tasks & responsibilities
- The Mental Health Support Worker provides daily care and support to members of Sunflower House.
- The Mental Health worker will work towards reducing the impact arising from mental illness, including the effects of stigma on individuals, families and the community, and increase understanding of and improve attitudes towards mental health and illness resulting in changed behaviour.
