About the Opportunities
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work to support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health issues to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their goals. On a day to day basis.
You will:
- Listen to and create opportunities and activities that meet the interests and goals of people.
- Encourage shared learning experiences, and support skill development at every opportunity through self-directed learning, information and education.
- Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses our services that meet their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.
About You:
You are looking for flexible work hours while building your career in mental health. You’re passionate about supporting and advocating for vulnerable people.
Duties & tasks include:
- Accurately keep documentation and required reporting
- Support with daily living skills
- Providing support and assistance to promote good health and well-being
- Promoting activities that offer meaningful experiences and increase social networks such as venturing out into the community to participate in activities and programs
- Support participants across personal care, hygiene, medication, assisted feeding, etc.
- Operate safely & in line with relevant organisational protocols
Roster
- 24/7
- Ongoing, Long & Flexible Shifts
- Newcastle Based
- Rotating rosters of 8 hours at a time
Position requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Support Work (SIL)
- Leadership experience desirable
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Working with children check
- NDIS check
- Police check
- Passion for supporting people with disability
- Keen and caring interpersonal skills & manner
- Fully Vaccinated
