We are  looking for Support workers who would like to specialise in Mental Health complex needs. Full accredited training provided.

About the Opportunities

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work to support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health issues to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their goals. On a day to day basis.        

You will:

  • Listen to and create opportunities and activities that meet the interests and goals of people.
  • Encourage shared learning experiences, and support skill development at every opportunity through self-directed learning, information and education.
  • Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses our services that meet their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.

About You:

You are looking for flexible work hours while building your career in mental health. You’re passionate about supporting and advocating for vulnerable people. 

Duties & tasks include:

  • Accurately keep documentation and required reporting
  • Support with daily living skills
  • Providing support and assistance to promote good health and well-being
  • Promoting activities that offer meaningful experiences and increase social networks such as venturing out into the community to participate in activities and programs
  • Support participants across personal care, hygiene, medication, assisted feeding, etc.
  • Operate safely & in line with relevant organisational protocols

Roster

  • 24/7 
  • Ongoing, Long & Flexible Shifts
  • Newcastle Based
  • Rotating rosters of 8 hours at a time

Position requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Support Work (SIL)
  • Leadership experience desirable 
  • Certificate III in Individual Support
  • Working with children check
  • NDIS check
  • Police check
  • Passion for supporting people with disability
  • Keen and caring interpersonal skills & manner
  • Fully Vaccinated
