How you’ll make an impact
Are you a qualified mental health support worker with current or previous experience dealing with complex clients? Are you looking to upskill and for your next career development opportunity?
We’re currently recruiting for a Mental Health Team Leader to join our complex disability team, with clients located throughout south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Reporting directly to our Complex Disability Manager and/ or our Regional Service Manager, you will be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members throughout the complex programs on a daily basis, ensuring the team provides quality services and safeguards to our clients that promote opportunities for meaningful participation and active inclusion in society.
A day in the life as our Mental Health Team Leader with CareChoice, may see you supporting your team with:
- Support, coach develop and foster a capable workforce for staff on allocated programs, ensuring staff are well matched to meet participant needs and preferences and supports are delivered according to the support plans, directions by the clinical/allied health teams, NDIS Principles or National Quality Standards and Legislative requirements.
- Promote quality and best practices through examples, models, and tools, and practise leadership and coaching to staff to ensure programs deliver real and meaningful outcomes for clients.
- Manage the daily operations of support services, including the provision of formal supervision and management of staff and facilitating care team meetings.
- Manage staff rostering to match worker capabilities with client needs and preferences.
Provide debriefing, practice leadership, coaching and feedback on positive behaviour support to staff. - Support and reinforce a work culture that promotes mutual respect, diversity and inclusion and zero tolerance of any behaviour or circumstance.
About you
As a positive role model with a ‘can do attitude’, you’ll have a high degree of initiative and strong desire to achieve outstanding results.
It’s not essential, but if you have a nursing/social work/psychology background it would be advantageous.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Previous experience supporting clients with complex needs in the community
- Relevant qualifications in the mental health/ disability and community services (Certificate IV in Mental health/Disability or equivalent)
- Psychology Degree, Graduate Certificate in mental Health Nursing would also be considered.
- A genuine desire to ensure that clients receive exceptional service
- Willingness to work as part of a team and cultivate a strength-based approach
- Knowledge of restrictive practices
- Knowledge and experience writing person-centred plans
- Excellent attention-to-detail and supervisory skills
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must currently hold First Aid and CPR qualification
- Valid and current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
